Today its part of a main road in Cancun.

It was built in 1942 by the chewing gum businessman, Francisco Polo Montes, at the time of the chewing gum industry in Yucatan.

His first commercial flight was executed in a Dc-6 by Mexicana, an aviation company.

But starting the 70's, a bigger space began to be required for aircrafts like the Bank of Mexico.

It was until April 5, 1975 that this runway closed with its last flight wich also was executed by Mexicana, the same aviation company that started.

Cancun past

Now it is known as Kabah Avenue.

That same year, the new Cancun international airport opened, which still operating and is recognized as one of the most important airports in Mexico.
